
Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan met with the Chairman of the Educational Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church

October 7, 2022. Moscow. Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan visited the Educational Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church, where he met with its chairman, Archpriest Maxim Kozlov.
Archpriest Maxim Kozlov - Rector of the General Church Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies (GCPD); member of the Supreme Church Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission and the Interdepartmental Coordinating Group for Teaching Theology in Universities.
At the meeting of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan with the Chairman of the Educational Committee was attended by the First Vice-Rector of the Alma-Ata Orthodox Theological Seminary, Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov.
Metropolitan Alexander, who was appointed interim rector of the Alma-Ata Seminary by the decision of the Holy Synod of August 25, 2022 (Journal No. 72), has told Archpriest Maxim about the activities of the theological school - the main forge of personnel of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, which has a state license for the right to carry out educational activities in accordance with the legislation of the Republic.
The archpastor noted that the current year was marked for the Metropolitan District by two historical dates - the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkestan diocese and the 30th anniversary of the revival of spiritual education in Kazakhstan.
Archpriest Maxim informed Metropolitan Alexander about the current work of the Educational Committee, current measures to develop the system of spiritual education, and plans to support seminaries operating outside of Russia.
The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of interaction between the General Church postgraduate and doctoral studies and the Alma-Ata Seminary, in particular, scientific and educational support of the Kazakh theological school by the GCPD.
An exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
