Metropolitan Alexander celebrated the Liturgy in the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Malotimofeevka, Akmola region

June 1, 2024 – Saturday of the 4th week of Easter; day of remembrance of the holy faithful Grand Duke Dimitry Donskoy and Grand Duchess Evdokia, in the nuns Euphrosyne.

Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Malotimofeevka, Akmola region.

The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was served by: the dean of the temples of Astana Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev), the clergy of the Church of the Monk Serafim of the Sarovsky city of Astana Hieromonk Siluan (Sinegubov), Klyuchar of the Nikolsky Church in the village of Malotimofeevka, Priest Vladislav Kovalenko, the head of the personal secretariat of the head of the Metropolitan District of Iromons Priest Prohor (Endovitskiy), keynote of the Kazan Cathedral of Alma-Ata, Priest Georgy Rublinsky, Priest Viktor Drozhnikov, Protodeacon Nikolai Grinkevich, head of the Metropolitan Protocol Service, Protodeacon Roman Golovin, Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky, Protodeacon Alexander Mokiy, Deacon Ilya Davydov.

At the beginning of the service, an ark containing a particle of the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was delivered to the church for prayerful worship and spiritual strengthening of believers.

The following people prayed during the service: parishioners of St. Nicholas Church; teachers and pupils of the Orthodox orphanage “Svetoch”; pilgrims from Astana and settlements of the Akmola region.

Guests of the holiday were: Vicar of the Archdiocese of the Blessed Virgin Mary Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Kazakhstan S.S. Galchina, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Kazakhstan, director of the Russian House in Astana O.A. Filonova, head of the branch of the Association of Russian, Slavic and Cossack organizations of Kazakhstan V.N. Dotsenko.

The chants were performed by the small choir of the Assumption Cathedral in Astana under the direction of Olga Varentsova.

The sermon on the sacramental verse was delivered by Hieromonk Siluan (Sinegubov).

The liturgy ended with glorification of the feast of the Holy Resurrection of Christ and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, after which Metropolitan Alexander uttered the exclamation “Christ is Risen!” in different languages - ancient and modern.

His Eminence congratulated those present on the day of remembrance of the blessed Prince Dimitry Donskoy and delivered a sermon.

The hierarch sprinkled the believers with holy water.

At the end of the Liturgy, the Head of the Metropolitan District and the clergy proceeded in procession to the site of the laying of the spiritual, cultural and educational center named after Hiero-Confessor Nicholas, Metropolitan of Alma-Ata and Kazakhstan, where he consecrated the foundation stone.
