The museum collections of the memorial house of Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) have been replenished with a new exhibit

May 28, 2024. The funds of the house-museum of the ever-memorable Metropolitan of Alma-Ata and Kazakhstan Joseph (Chernov), created in the city of Alma-Ata with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, continue to be replenished with new exhibits.

A sign of archpastoral dignity - a panagia - was transferred to the museum of the confessor of faith and ascetic of piety, revered by millions of believers.

Metropolitan Alexander received the gift from Archpriest Andrei Pavlenko and Protodeacon Seraphim Dubanov.

Photographs of the ever-memorable Bishop Joseph have been preserved, in which the saint wears this panagia. It is entirely made of bone and represents an image of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, framed with carved floral patterns and crowned with a royal crown.

The historical building of the future memorial house, in which, with the blessing of the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Museum of Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) is being created, museum located in the city of Alma-Ata on Ashimbaev Street (old name - Kavaleriyskaya), not far from the Iversko-Seraphim Monastery . In the 60-70s of the last century, the Alma-Ata diocesan administration was located in this modest one-story house, where the blessed elder saint worked and lived. In the restored building, the organization of a memorial office and the placement of exhibitions dedicated to his life and works began.

The museum is being created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the repose of Metropolitan Joseph with the support of the Apostle Foundation (president - G.G. Sosnovsky). The anniversary date of the departure to the Lord of the ever-memorable hierarch will be celebrated in 2025.
