On the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Astana and Alma-Ata diocese, the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, and Orthodox Kazakhstanis were congratulated by the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aida Galymovna Balaeva:

I congratulate you, as well as in your person the clergy and believers of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan on the significant date - the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Astana and Almaty diocese.

All these years, the Metropolitan District has been active in educational and social activities. Today, Orthodox churches are places of cultural and spiritual education for young people.

The Assumption Cathedral became the real pearl of our capital - the largest in Central Asia; in Almaty, the Ascension Cathedral received a rebirth, in the status of a national treasure.

For many years, the Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan has contributed to the strengthening of spiritual and moral values and is a reliable partner of the state in promoting interreligious dialogue in society.

Sharing this celebration with you, I express my confidence that good deeds will continue to be accomplished through your efforts.
