January 31, 2024. Alma-Ata. In the administrative and spiritual-cultural center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District named after Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov), a meeting between Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan and Archbishop Amphilohiy of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk took place.
Bishop Amphilohiy informed the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan about the implementation of educational and charitable projects in the diocese, also spoke about the celebration of the Nativity of Christ, holy days and the Epiphany in the churches of Rudny Altai.
The head of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District shared his impressions of a recent meeting with the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.G. Balaeva, where issues of improving state legislation in the field of religion were discussed.
One of the topics of communication between the archpastors was the upcoming celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Alma-Ata diocese, within the framework of which church spiritual, educational, scientific and cultural events with the participation of the Kazakh episcopate are planned to be held in Almaty and Astana.
During the meeting, topical issues of the spiritual life of Orthodox believers in Eastern Kazakhstan were discussed. An exchange of views took place on the state of church-state relations and interfaith dialogue in the diocese.
At the end of the meeting, Metropolitan Alexander and Archbishop Amfilohiy exchanged wishes for God's help in serving the Church of Christ.
