The Assumption Cathedral of Astana was visited by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan A.G. Nazarov

January 26, 2024. Astana. The Assumption Cathedral and the spiritual and cultural center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District named after Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius were visited by the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan Andrei Gennadievich Nazarov.

A.G. Nazarov was accompanied by members of the delegation of the Bashkir government, who arrived together with the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan R.F. Khabirov to the capital of the Republic to participate in the forum “Kazakhstan - Bashkortostan”.

The distinguished guest and his entourage, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, were met by the dean of the parishes of Astana, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev).

At the request of the Prime Minister, Father Dean performed a prayer service in front of the shrines of the Assumption Cathedral for the well-being of Bashkortostan and strengthening relations between fraternal countries and peoples.

For the guests, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev) gave a tour, talking about the construction and decoration of the temple, the painting of walls and vaults, carried out by an artel of master isographers from the city of Palekh (Russia, Ivanovo region), the creation of a carved gilded iconostasis and icon cases made by carvers of artistic production workshop named after Theodore Stratelates (Russia, city of Kostroma) in the traditions of the 17th century, and decorated with icons painted by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation S.N. Sokolov. The dean of the capital emphasized that the Assumption Cathedral was visited by prominent government, religious and public figures, including the Primates and hierarchs of the Orthodox Churches, leaders of traditional faiths, presidents of countries and heads of government.

In front of the cathedral’s shrines, Andrei Gennadievich and members of the delegation lit candles.

The Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan visited the spiritual and administrative center of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan. Father Sergius showed Andrei Gennadievich the house church in honor of the Astana-Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God, the church meeting hall, work rooms, the meeting room of the Synod of the Metropolitan District, a conference room, and classrooms for Sunday school classes.

The conversation between the dean and the delegation of the Bashkir government continued in the fireplace room of the spiritual and cultural center.

During the conversation, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev) told the guests about the life of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, provided statistical data regarding the number of dioceses, parishes and clergy, and reported on the plans of the hierarchy for the implementation of educational, cultural, youth and social projects.

As a souvenir of his visit to the Assumption Cathedral, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan presented the main temple of Kazakhstan with the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Blessed Heaven”.

At the end of the communication, which took place in a warm atmosphere, the meeting participants exchanged wishes for success in good deeds and endeavors. On behalf of Metropolitan Alexander, Father Sergius presented the guests with books published by the publishing department of the Metropolitan District, and music albums of the metropolitan choir under the direction of Honored Artist of Russia O.N. Ovchinnikov.
