A meeting took place between Metropolitan Alexander and the General Consul of the Russian Federation in the Southern capital D.A. Turaev

In the fireplace hall of the spiritual, cultural and administrative center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District named after Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov), a meeting was held between Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan with the General Consul of the Russian Federation in Almaty Dmitry Alexandrovich Turaev.

Metropolitan Alexander and Dmitry Alexandrovich exchanged congratulations on the holiday of the Nativity of Christ and the coming year 2024.

The archpastor told the guest about the life of the Metropolitan District, which will celebrate in the coming year the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Astana and Alma-Ata diocese. The Bishop invited the General Consul to attend the events that will take place as part of the celebration of the memorable date in Astana and the southern capital.

During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues relating to the role of traditional religions in the life of modern society. Metropolitan Alexander quoted the words of the President of Kazakhstan K.-Zh.K. Tokayev, which were used by the head of state to define priorities in the public life of the Republic: “Strengthening interethnic harmony is one of the cornerstones of the sustainable development of our country.”

According to mutual opinion, Kazakhstan is an example of peaceful coexistence of representatives of different nations and followers of different religions both in the post-Soviet space and on a more global scale.

The meeting participants discussed issues related to the role of the Russian language in cultural and humanitarian communication of the CIS countries. The Consul General quoted the words of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin: “Russia will pay special attention to the topic of preserving our common heritage - the Russian language, which has been and remains the language of interethnic communication for hundreds of millions of people both in our countries and around the world.”

Dmitry Alexandrovich noted the high level of relations between the Metropolitan District and the Embassy of the Russian Federation and Russian diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan.

The parties exchanged souvenirs and good wishes.
