January 11, 2024. Alma-Ata. In the concert hall of the Kazakh State Philharmonic named after. In Zhambyl, a traditional concert was held dedicated to the Nativity of Christ and organized with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.
The concert program was attended by: the choir of the Metropolitan District (regent - Honored Artist of Russia Oleg Ovchinnikov, choirmaster - Victoria Dudareva); Central Sunday School of Almaty at the St. Nicholas Cathedral (director - winner of the Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) Prize Galina Cherepanova); Choir of the St. Sophia Cathedral of the Iversko-Seraphim Monastery in Alma-Ata (regent – Olga Usoltseva); laureate of international and republican competitions, youth choir “Kokek” (director – Natalya Marchenko); State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Kazakhstan (conductor - laureate of international competitions Kuanysh Ismailov); laureates of international and republican competitions Sofyana Blagodarnaya, Roza Bakbergenova and Evgeniy Shagarov.
The listeners were offered works by classical and modern authors, spiritual chants, symphonic works, opera arias, folk Christmas songs and carols. Nikolskaya Sunday School performed a bright vocal and dance composition “Christmas Night”.
Opening the festive event, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan congratulated those gathered on the occasion of the Nativity of Christ and the New Year.
The concert was attended by: vicars of the Astana diocese - the manager of the affairs of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Bishop Claudian of Taldykorgan and Bishop Benjamin of Talgar, clergy and parishioners of churches in the southern capital.
The guests of the musical festival were: Consul General of the Russian Federation in Almaty D.A. Turaev and his wife, public figures, representatives of the creative intelligentsia, leaders of ethnocultural associations.
