Metropolitan Alexander takes part in a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church

October 13, 2022. Moscow. At the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence at the Danilov Stauropegial Monastery, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia presided over the regular session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The meeting is attended by a permanent member of the Holy Synod - the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander.

Before the start of work, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church addressed the members of the Synod with an introductory speech.

“Today we have a fairly lengthy agenda, consisting of 20 topics, each of it will require our appropriate attention,” said His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

“The Holy Synod meets at a time that cannot be called quite,” continued the Primate. – Therefore, the task of the Church, which has always been is and will be a peacemaking force. As well as is to ensure that with our prayers, our labors, our positive impact on society, we can relieve the existing tension as much as possible and, if possible, influence the easing of conflicts that can lead to unpredictable consequences."

“Indeed, we are living through a very important historical moment, and the Church, as a peacemaking force, as a force to which God’s grace has been given to appease people, to strengthen spiritual life, must today intensify prayer for all the countries that make up the canonical territory of the Russian Orthodox Church,” declared the Most Holy Vladyka.

“Let us pray for the Lord to incline His mercy, and we, as the Church, will work to ensure that those conflicts, which, unfortunately, have already become a reality, do not lead to consequences that could most severely affect the lives of our peoples. May God grant that Divine justice triumphs and that peace reigns in our hearts,” concluded His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.
