The memorial house was created by the public foundation "Apostol" on the initiative of the president of the organization G.G. Sosnovsky.
The employees of the foundation "Apostol" as part of the implementation of the project "Golden Ring of Kazakhstan" have developed a pilgrimage and tourist route to the museum center from the city of Almaty. The route includes a visit to the memorial house, the place of the martyrdom of priest Vasily Kolmykov and the ancient cemetery where the shepherd was buried along with other sufferers for the faith. Participants of the trip will be able to visit one of the most unusual and beautiful places in Kazakhstan - Charyn Canyon, included in the map of sacred places of the Republic. Throughout the trip, pilgrims and tourists will be accompanied by experienced guides.
The house-museum presents unique items related to the life and work of the holy martyr Basil, things and documents telling about the history of Orthodoxy in the region. A special place in the exhibition is occupied by the icon of the saint, made in the best ancient traditions of Palekh masters. In front of the image of the shepherd-martyr, everyone can pray for the well-being of their family and friends.
There is a church shop and a refectory, where pilgrims can recharge their batteries. All dishes are prepared taking into account the church charter on fasting and non-fasting days. As a keepsake of the visit, everyone can buy souvenirs.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander, the Apostol Foundation published a small book about the life and deeds of the holy martyr Vasily Zharkentsky and made icons with the image of the saint.
The first group of pilgrims visited the house-museum on September 7. The participants of the trip noted both the high level of organization of the pilgrimage and the special peaceful atmosphere during their stay in the memorial center.
