One of the oldest inhabitants of the monastery in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Seeking the Lost", schema-nun Nadezhda (Timoshenko), has passed away in the Lord

August 28, 2024. Astana. On the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, schema-nun Nadezhda (Timoshenko), one of the oldest inhabitants of the monastery in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Seeking the Lost" in the capital of Kazakhstan, passed away in the Lord at the age of 95.

Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan performed a funeral litia for the newly departed servant of God, schema-nun Nadezhda, in the Feodorovsky house church of his residence in Astana.

Schema-nun Nadezhda (in the world - Timoshenko Nadezhda Ivanovna) was born in the Omsk region, in the town of Isilkul station on October 9, 1929.
She grew up in a large family of simple workers, graduated from 6 classes of secondary school. She lived a difficult working life, courageously endured the hardships and adversity of the Great Patriotic War and the post-war years. At the age of 18, she went to work. After getting married, Nadezhda Ivanovna moved with her husband to Akmolinsk, now Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Her husband worked as an assistant driver, and Nadezhda Ivanovna took on all the chores around the house. She raised children, and after they went to school, she went to work. It was at this time that she turned to God - she began to often attend church services and pray at home.
In the 1970s, she actively helped in the construction of the Alexander Nevsky Church in Akmolinsk, diligently attended church services.
In 1985, after the death of her husband, Nadezhda Ivanovna began to carry out obedience in the church refectory. She received spiritual guidance from the ever-memorable confessor of the faith, Archimandrite Kirill (Borodin). After Father Kirill moved to Riga, she began to visit him there periodically.
In 1994, she took monastic vows at the monastery in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Seeking the Lost", receiving the name Eusebia. On August 21, 2002, nun Eusebia was tonsured into a nun with the name Zosima.
On January 2, 2018, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Hieromonk Modest (Drozdov), spiritual father of the women's monastery in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Seeking the Lost", tonsured nun Zosima into the great schema and gave her the name in honor of the holy martyr Nadezhda.
The late schema-nun Nadezhda worked tirelessly in the refectory for many years, baking prosphora. She was distinguished by her heartfelt simplicity, responsiveness and meekness. Monastics and lay people found comfort in communicating with her, and invariably received spiritual support and good advice.
