Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan visited the Minsk Theological Seminary

August 5, 2024. Belarus. The delegation of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, headed by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, visited the Assumption Zhirovichi Monastery and the Minsk Theological Seminary.

The guests' visit began with the Divine Liturgy in the Assumption Cathedral of the monastery.

The following took part in the service: Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander, Archbishop of Novogrudok and Slonim Guriy, Archbishop of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk Amfilohiy, Bishop of Nesvizh Avksentiy, Archimandrite Nikodim Generalov, Rector of the Minsk Theological Seminary Archpriest Viktor Vasilevich, Acting Rector of the Alma-Ata Orthodox Theological Seminary Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov, clergy of the cathedral, employees of departments and commissions of the Metropolitan District headed by O.N. Ovchinnikov, Honored Artist of Russia.

After the Liturgy, the guests visited the Minsk Seminary, where they got acquainted with the educational process, scientific and educational work, and the activities of the theological school museum. The tour was conducted by Rector Archpriest Viktor Vasilevich. Metropolitan Alexander noted the high level of academic training and the material and technical base of the seminary. For his work on the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation, the archpastor awarded Father Victor the Order of Archbishop Sophonia (Sokolsky), the first hierarch of the Turkestan diocese and the apostle of Semirechye.

Then a prayer service was held in the Assumption Cathedral, after which the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan presented Archbishop Guria with the Order of the Holy Martyr Pimen, Bishop of Vernoye and Semirechye. The hierarch was awarded the high award in recognition of his work on developing relations between the Minsk diocese and the Metropolitan District.

At the fraternal cemetery of the Assumption Zhirovichi Monastery, Metropolitan Alexander served a litiya at the grave of the ever-memorable first Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Filaret (Vakhromeyev).

After a tour of the monastery, the bishop gave an interview to the video project “The Gospel in the Modern World.”
