A meeting was held between Archbishop Amfilohiy of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk and Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region E.B. Kosherbayev

July 30, 2024. Ust-Kamenogorsk. A meeting was held in the regional akimat between Archbishop Amfilohiy of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk and Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region E.B. Kosherbayev.

The meeting was attended by: Secretary of the Ust-Kamenogorsk Diocese, Deacon Ilya Kvan; from the akimat side – First Deputy Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region N.A. Saktaganov, Head of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Region Zh.Zh. Mekeyeva, Deputy Akim of the City of Ust-Kamenogorsk I.F. Smith.

After exchanging greetings, Archbishop Amfilohije informed the head of the region about plans to build a church-historical museum named after the holy martyr Alexander Dagaev and to build a central Sunday school in the capital of Rudny Altai.

The parties discussed joint projects of the diocese and the central mosque of Ust-Kamenogorsk "Khalifa Altai" in the field of educational and charitable activities.

The interlocutors particularly noted the need to conduct joint work on the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation and to unite the efforts of representatives of Islam and Orthodoxy for this purpose.

A wide range of issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.

Archbishop Amfilohije presented Ermek Bedelbaevich with a copy of the Holy Scripture translated into the state language.

At the end of the conversation, which took place in a friendly atmosphere, the interlocutors exchanged good wishes and expressed confidence that the administration of the East Kazakhstan region and the Ust-Kamenogorsk diocese will continue their good cooperation for the benefit of the residents of Rudny Altai.
