The head of the Metropolitan District awarded a student of the Central Sunday School with the “Achieving” medal for winning the International Literary Competition “Summer of the Lord.”

June 9, 2024. Alma-Ata. In the hall of church meetings at the St. Nicholas Cathedral of the southern capital, a meeting was held between Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan with the winners and prize-winners of Orthodox competitions dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Astana and Alma-Ata diocese.
During the meeting, His Eminence awarded Anna Selina, a student of the Central Sunday School, the medal “For the Successful”. The “Successful” medal is a sign of attention of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, which is awarded with the blessing of the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan to schoolchildren and students for special achievements in education and bright creative achievements.
Central Sunday School student A. Selina received an award from the hands of the hierarch for winning the International Literary Competition “Summer of the Lord.” Metropolitan Alexander presented Anna with a diploma and a memorable gift, wishing her mercy from the Lord, health and longevity.
The creative competition is annually held by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church with the participation of the Center for Spiritual and Educational Programs named after St. Philaret of Moscow and the support of the Presidential Grants Fund.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, students of the Central Sunday School at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Almaty took part in the event. In the correspondence stage of the competition, from which the competition began, Anna Selina wrote the essay “Golden Threads of Truth.” A total of 1,435 works were submitted to the correspondence stage, which were evaluated by language arts teachers who were members of the expert council. Participants in the competition included representatives from Russia, Belarus, Estonia and Kazakhstan. Based on the results of all stages of the creative competition, Anna Selina reached the final stage of the competition, which took place in Moscow on March 23-26.
The writing of the in-person work took place on March 24th. According to the results of the meeting of the competition commission, Anna became the winner in the age group of 6-7 grades.
On March 26, in the White Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, a solemn ceremony of awarding the laureates of the anniversary competition was held, which was headed by the Chairman of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk.
