June 1, 2024. Malotimofeevka village, Akmola region. At the end of the Liturgy in the St. Nicholas Church, the foundation stone of a spiritual, cultural and educational center named after Hiero-Confessor Nicholas, Metropolitan of Alma-Ata and Kazakhstan, took place on the territory of the church.
The consecration of the foundation stone was performed by Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan.
Participants in the prayer service “For the beginning of every good deed” were: the dean of Astana churches, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev), the sacristan of the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Malotimofeevka, Priest Vladislav Kovalenko, the clergy and parishioners of the churches of the Astana church district.
Present at the laying of the foundation stone for the future spiritual and cultural center were: Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Vicar of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Astana, Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Kazakhstan S.S. Galchina, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Kazakhstan, director of the Russian House in Astana O.A. Filonova, head of the branch of the Association of Russian, Slavic and Cossack organizations of Kazakhstan V.N. Dotsenko.
Before the start of the prayer service, the Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan addressed those gathered. The Metropolitan noted the importance of creating a special spiritual and educational institution near Astana, in the village of Malotimofeevka, in which adults and children will be able to receive a wide range of knowledge about Orthodoxy, the history of their native country, and the rich cultural and historical heritage of Kazakhstan.
After performing the statutory prayers, the archpastor sprinkled the construction site, the clergy and believers with holy water.
The Spiritual and Cultural Center named after Hiero-Confessor Nicholas, Metropolitan of Alma-Ata and Kazakhstan will become the venue for educational activities; A variety of work with children and youth will be carried out here. The center will be built with funds from philanthropists and voluntary donations from parishioners.
