Flood victims receive assistance in churches of the Aktobe diocese

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the social department of the Alma-Ata diocese (headed by Archpriest Vyacheslav Pugachev) collected and sent humanitarian aid to Aktobe, which is distributed to people affected by the flooding.
From the beginning of April to the present, with the blessing of Bishop Ignatius of Aktobe and Kyzylorda, the diocesan social department has been providing assistance to those affected by large-scale floods in the West Kazakhstan region.
The clergy and Orthodox believers are involved in eliminating the consequences of river floods, working with evacuated residents of the region in temporary accommodation, providing them with spiritual, moral and material support.
Social department volunteers pay special attention to purchasing food packages, bottled water, diapers, household chemicals, as well as food for victims and organizing a shelter for pets.
Representatives of the Aktobe diocesan administration, led by the secretary of the diocese, Deacon Boris Fateev, donated food packages for the victims through the Dobro volunteer movement.
In all churches of the diocese, prayers are offered for the health and strengthening of the spiritual and physical strength of people affected by the flood.
The flood in the Aktobe region caused great damage to residents. According to official information, more than 8,000 people were injured, there were no casualties. Two dams in the region burst. The central region of Aktobe and several nearby villages were flooded. The diocesan administration was flooded, the Sunday school, assembly hall, gymnasium, and vestry were damaged. At the moment, the situation in the region is gradually returning to normal, people are returning to their homes. The level of the Ilek and Kargaly rivers fell, these are the two main rivers that overflowed their banks. The water is currently receding. The situation is stabilizing, but there are many victims.
