With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the social department of the Alma-Ata diocese (headed by Archpriest Vyacheslav Pugachev) continues to raise funds for those affected by the floods.
At the beginning of April, the largest spring floods in 80 years began in the Akmola, Aktobe, Kostanay, Atyrau, and North Kazakhstan regions, as a result of which more than 60 settlements remained cut off from the outside world.
“In such a situation, the social department of the Alma-Ata diocese could not stand aside. People need water, ready-made food products, in particular canned food, clothing and much more,” Archpriest Vyacheslav Pugachev, head of Mercy, explained to the press service of the Metropolitan District. “Logistics to the affected areas are expensive, so we decided to organize a cash collection. This will make it possible to quickly transfer funds to the Petropavlovsk, Ural, Aktobe, Kostanay and Kokshetau dioceses so that social service volunteers can purchase what they need locally,” the shepherd noted.
In connection with the tragedy, the Alma-Ata Diocese of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District appeals to everyone who cares about the fate of the victims to provide them with financial support by sending donations to the following details:
