The Assumption Cathedral of Astana and the spiritual and cultural center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District were visited by the head of the Republic of Sakha A.S. Nikolaev

April 20, 2024. Astana. The Assumption Cathedral and the spiritual and cultural center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District named after Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius was visited by the head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Sergeevich Nikolaev.

A.S. Nikolaev was accompanied by members of the delegation of the Yakut government, who arrived in the capital to participate in the opening ceremony of the Days of the Sakha Republic in Kazakhstan.

The distinguished guest and his entourage, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, were met by the dean of the parishes of Astana, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev).

For the guests, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev) gave a tour, talking about the construction and decoration of the temple, the painting of walls and vaults, carried out by an artel of master isographers from the city of Palekh (Russia, Ivanovo region), the creation of a carved gilded iconostasis and icon cases made by carvers of artistic production workshop named after Theodore Stratelates (Russia, city of Kostroma) in the traditions of the 17th century and decorated with icons painted by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation S.N. Sokolov. The dean of the capital emphasized that the Assumption Cathedral was visited by prominent government, religious and public figures, including the Primates and hierarchs of the Orthodox Churches, leaders of traditional faiths, presidents of countries and heads of government.

The Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha visited the spiritual and administrative center of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan. Father Sergius showed Andrei Gennadievich the house church in honor of the Astana-Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God, the church meeting hall, work rooms, the meeting room of the Synod of the Metropolitan District, a conference room, and classrooms for Sunday school classes.

The conversation between the dean and the delegation of the Yakut government continued in the fireplace room of the spiritual and cultural center.

During the conversation, Archimandrite Sergius (Karamyshev) told the guests about the life of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, provided statistical data regarding the number of dioceses, parishes and clergy, reported on the plans of the hierarchy for the implementation of educational, cultural, youth and social projects.

As a souvenir of his visit to the Assumption Cathedral, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan donated to the library of the spiritual and cultural center the book “Saint Innocent (Veniaminov): educator of the peoples of Alaska and Yakutia. To the 220th anniversary of his birth."

At the end of the communication, which took place in a warm atmosphere, the meeting participants exchanged wishes for success in good deeds and endeavors. On behalf of Metropolitan Alexander, Father Sergius presented the head of the Republic and members of the delegation with an icon of the heavenly patron of Kazakhstan - the holy confessor Nicholas, Metropolitan of Alma-Ata, books published by the publishing department of the Metropolitan District, and music albums of the metropolitan choir under the direction of the Honored Artist of Russia O.N. Ovchinnikova.
