Metropolitan Alexander visited the Intercession Church of Ust-Kamenogorsk, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the revival of liturgical life

April 20, 2024. Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan visited the cathedral in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, which today celebrates the 20th anniversary of the revival of liturgical life.
The Head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was accompanied by: Archbishop of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk Amphilohiy, vicar of the Astana diocese Bishop Claudian of Taldykorgan, head of the administrative secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District Priest Georgy Sidorov, secretary of the Ust-Kamenogorsk diocese Deacon Ilya Kvan,
Protodeacon Sergius Kulikov, Deacon Rustik Yakupov; Metropolitan's assistants I. Yatsenko, M. Kalmykov and I. Mikhailov.
The Metropolitan was met by the rector of the cathedral, Hieromonk Silouan (Magilev).
The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, together with the archpastors and clergy, performed glorification in front of the ark with a particle of the relics of the holy confessor Luke of Crimea, after which he congratulated the clergy community and the parish activists of the cathedral on this significant date in the life of the cathedral.
Metropolitan Alexander gave the church an icon of the Prophet Elijah as a prayerful memory. The rector of the cathedral accepted the relic from the hands of the Head of the Metropolitan District. Archbishop Amfilohiy and Hieromonk Siluan (Magilev) said words of gratitude for the sacred gift to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan.
Next, Metropolitan Alexander and his entourage proceeded to the baptismal church of the Intercession Church, where the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to the history of the revival of the cathedral took place.
After the welcoming speech of Metropolitan Alexander, an employee of the ethnographic museum of the capital of Rudny Altai O.N. Osertcheva told the audience about the concept of the exhibition, drawing attention to some unusual photographs.
The photo exhibition consists of three thematic blocks: pre-revolutionary, Soviet and modern periods of the history of the Intercession Cathedral.
When creating the exhibition, materials from the archives of the Ust-Kamenogorsk diocese were used.
The head of the Metropolitan District thanked the organizers of the event, wishing God's help in their labors and obediences.
