A pupil of the Central Sunday School became the winner of the International Literary Competition “Summer of the Lord”

On March 23-26, 2024, the final in-person stage of the X season of the International Children and Youth Literary Competition “The Summer of the Lord” named after I.S. Shmeleva was held in Moscow.

The creative competition is annually held by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church with the participation of the Center for Spiritual and Educational Programs named after St. Philaret of Moscow and the support of the Presidential Grants Fund.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, students of the Central Sunday School at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Almaty took part in the event. In the correspondence stage of the competition, from which the competition began, 7 pupils of the Central Sunday School took part: Borshcheva Daria - the essay “Eyes of Love”, Vasilenko Kira - the essay “Sixteen”, Vysotskaya Varvara - the story “My Friend Musya”, Layurova Daria - the story “Easter” ", Vera Pozdnukhova - story "My Chris", Selina Anna - essay "Golden Threads of Truth", Alexey Sobolev - essay "Saints and We".

A total of 1,435 works were submitted to the correspondence stage, which were evaluated by language arts teachers who were members of the expert council. Participants in the competition included representatives from Russia, Belarus, Estonia and Kazakhstan. The works of three of our students - Kira Vasilenko, Daria Layurova and Vera Pozdnukhova - were included in the top 120 best works. In February 2024, the children took classes in the online literary workshop “March Drops”.

Based on the results of all stages of the creative competition, Anna Selina reached the final stage of the competition, which took place in Moscow on March 23-26.

The writing of the in-person work took place on March 24th. According to the results of the meeting of the competition commission, Anna became the winner in the age group of 6-7 grades.

On March 26, in the White Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, a solemn ceremony of awarding the laureates of the anniversary competition was held, which was headed by the Chairman of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk.

The winners were greeted by the honored guests of the event: writers-winners of the Patriarchal Literary Prize V.N. Krupin and V.N. Khairyuzov, editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Evening Moscow” A.I. Kupriyanov.

The laureates' works were published in two collections of creative works by finalists of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, “Ray of the Golden Sun” and “Silver Ray”.
