Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan celebrated the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at the Assumption Church in the Pervomaisky microdistrict of Almaty.
The head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was co-served by: dean of Almaty parishes, rector of St. Nicholas Cathedral, mitered archpriest Valery Zakharov; dean of the Ili church district, Archpriest Alexander Zyryanov, rector of the Iversky Church in the village of Boraldai, abbot Filaret (Petrochenko), rector of the Church in the name of Righteous John of Kronstadt, Zhetygen village, Alma-Ata region, Archpriest Vadim Alekseev, rector of the Ilyinsky Church in the village of Karaoi, Archpriest Georgy Lagovsky, Archpriest Pavel Krauz, rector St. Nicholas Church in the village of Mezhdurechensk Archpriest Vladimir Krauz, rector of the Seraphim Church in the village of Chapaevo Priest Alexander Ageev, head of the Metropolitan District Commission for Charity and Social Service Archpriest Vyacheslav Pugachev, head of the personal secretariat of the Metropolitan Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky), head of the administrative secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District Priest Georgy Sidorov, Hieromonk Evgeny (Shcheglov); Protodeacon Nikolai Grinkevich, head of the Metropolitan's protocol service, Protodeacon Roman Golovin, Protodeacon Vladimir Syrovatsky.
The men's choir of the Alma-Ata diocese under the direction of Deacon Alexander Pivny sang. The chant “Let my prayer be corrected” was performed by E. Eremichev, V. Isachev, K. Kirilenko and Deacon Alexander Piven.
The sermon before communion was delivered by Priest Georgy Sidorov.
At the end of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Alexander addressed those gathered with words of teaching.
