The head of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District honored the memory of the confessor of the faith, Archbishop Cassian (Yaroslavl)

March 20, 2024. Alma-Ata. On the day of the celebration in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Support of Sinners”, it was 34 years since the repose of Archbishop Cassian (Yaroslavl), a courageous confessor of the faith, an ascetic of piety and a wise saint of the Russian Orthodox Church of the twentieth century. From May 20, 1964 to November 30, 1988, Archbishop Cassian headed the Kostroma and Galich diocese. Metropolitan Alexander became the bishop's successor at the Kostroma See and headed it for more than 20 years.

In the Alexander Nevsky Chapel of the spiritual, cultural and administrative center of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan named after Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov), Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan performed a funeral litany for the ever-memorable archpastor.

Praying during the service were: Secretary of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, member of the Patriarchal Council for the Development of Church Singing, Honored Artist of Russia O.N. Ovchinnikov; and acting Rector of the Alma-Ata Theological Seminary, head of the information and publishing department of the Metropolitan District, Archpriest Evgeny Ivanov; the head of the personal secretariat of the Metropolitan, Hieromonk Prokhor (Endovitsky), the head of the administrative secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District, Priest Georgy Sidorov, the head of the Metropolitan's protocol service, Protodeacon Roman Golovin; Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, Head of the Culture Department of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District L.E. Goricheva; employees of the Alma-Ata diocesan administration.
