Holiday "Broad Maslenitsa" in the southern capital

March 16, 2024. Alma-Ata. With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a large-scale Maslenitsa celebration took place in the Alatau microdistrict.

The organizers of the celebration were the branch of the “Association of Russian, Slavic and Cossack organizations of Kazakhstan” in Almaty (ARSK), the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (APK), the akimat of the Medeu district, the department of culture of the Kazakh Metropolitan District, the Union of Semirechye Cossacks (SKS), the public association “People traditions of Semirechye" (NTS), the District Council of Veterans of the Alatau microdistrict and the society "AlatauAktiv".

Representatives of different peoples of the Republic of Kazakhstan, leaders of ethnocultural associations and public structures of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan were invited to the holiday.

The Maslenitsa holiday was opened by Vladimir Semenovich Shikhotov, head of the branch of the “Association of Russian, Slavic and Cossack organizations of Kazakhstan” in Almaty, ataman of the “Union of Cossacks of Semirechye”. Vladimir Semenovich conveyed congratulations from the Chairman of ARSK Bozhko Vladimir Karpovich. The honorary guests of the holiday were the deputy chairman of the commission for work with the Cossacks of the Metropolitan District in the Republic of Kazakhstan, priest Evgeniy Kozlov, the chairman of the Ukrainian cultural center of the city of Almaty T.A. Agapova, Chairman of the Council of Mothers of Almaty M.V. Israilova, representative of the city House of Friendship of the city of Almaty, RSU “Kogamdyk kelisim” Saltanat Lekerova, member of the ANC, head of the military sports club “Cruiser Kirov” B. Perimbetov.

The concert program was attended by young artists of children's ensembles of the KSU "Comprehensive School No. 7", students of the KSU "Comprehensive School No. 95", the SCS ensemble "Cossack Glory" (leader A.S. Ostropiko), the ARSK ensemble "Chervona Ruta" (director L M. Eremenko), dance group “Cossacks of Semirechye” of the Union of Cossacks of Semirechye (leader N.N. Shikhotov), soloist of the Ensemble “Verny” V.E. Mokeev, duet “Karashash” - Gennady and Karashash Bakhtin).

Professional animators organized fun games and competitions for children. The traditional Cossack competitions of lifting a bag of sugar and weights were especially popular among the guests of the holiday. A considerable number of people took part in various sports competitions.

The Cossacks delighted those present with Lezginka and other colorful dances with traditional weapons.

During the six-hour celebration, all visitors were treated to pancakes, baursaks and dishes of national cuisines.

Several thousand citizens and guests of the capital who took part in the traditional Slavic holiday received vivid impressions, and children and youth received many joyful emotions from exciting games, prizes and gifts.
