A session of the Meeting of Representatives of Religious Associations of Kazakhstan was held at the spiritual and cultural center of the Metropolitan District in Astana

At the spiritual and cultural center of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District named after Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius, on the initiative of the Orthodox Church, the annual meeting of the Meeting of Representatives of Religious Associations of Kazakhstan was held.

The meeting was organized by the Committee for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Astana Deanery.

The meeting was attended by members of all religious associations of the country, including: the head of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Astana, Metropolitan Archbishop Tomas Peta, Archbishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan Yu.T. Novgorodov and the chief imam of the Republican Mosque “Hazret Sultan” E.N. Zhusupov.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of Kazakhstan E.B. Nukezhanov.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan was represented by the sacristan of the Assumption Cathedral of the capital, Archpriest Dimitry Baidek.

Before the start of the meeting, Father Dimitri gave the meeting participants a tour of the main temple of the Republic and the spiritual and cultural center named after Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius.

The shepherd told the guests about the history of the construction of the cathedral, erected with the support of the country's leadership, temple shrines, the creation of a unique iconostasis in the traditions of ancient Russian art and the decoration of the building with paintings made by outstanding Russian masters.

On the territory of the temple, members of the delegation examined the Armenian memorial stone khachkar cross and the monument to St. Sergius of Radonezh, the great Abbot of the Russian land.

At the spiritual and cultural center, guests got acquainted with the exhibitions of the Museum of New Martyrs and Confessors of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting of the Meeting of Representatives of Religious Associations of Kazakhstan, topical issues of interaction between the state and traditional faiths of the Republic, strengthening enduring moral values and spiritual harmony in society were discussed.

Speaking to the audience, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of Kazakhstan E.B. Nukezhanov noted that the meeting is taking place during the celebration of Maslenitsa and on the eve of Nauryz, which are celebrated by everyone, regardless of ethnicity and religion. This, according to Yerzhan Bolatkanovich, is an example of the spiritual unity of all the people of our Fatherland.

The event ended with tea with pancakes and baursaks.
