The Day of Remembrance of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow was prayerfully honored in the southern capital

With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, the vicar of the Astana diocese, Bishop Claudian of Taldykorgan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Matroninsky Church of the Iversko-Seraphim Convent of Almaty.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were: Archpriest Alexander Sokolov, Hieromonk Arseny (Voloshin), head of the administrative secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District, Priest Georgy Sidorov, Deacon Andrey Plakhuta and Deacon Rustik Yakupov.

The following people prayed during the service: the abbess of the Iversko-Seraphim convent, Abbess Lyubov (Yakushkina) with the sisters of the monastery; Secretary of the Kazakhstan Metropolitan District, Honored Artist of Russia O.N. Ovchinnikov; employees of the Alma-Ata diocesan administration, parishioners of the temple.

The choir of the St. Sophia Cathedral monastery sang under the direction of O. Usoltseva.

The Hierarch offered prayers for the increase of love and the eradication of all hatred and malice.

After the dismissal of the Liturgy, for prayerful worship and spiritual strengthening of believers, an ark containing the relics of the blessed Matrona of Moscow was carried into the center of the church.

The clergy and choir performed glorification of Blessed Matrona, after which Bishop Claudian addressed those gathered with a sermon about the life and exploits of the Moscow righteous woman.
