Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen celebrated the Liturgy in the St. Sophia Cathedral of the Iversko-Seraphim Monastery in Almaty

March 5, 2024 – feast day of St. Timothy in Symvolech; Saint Eustathius, Archbishop of Antioch; Kozelshchansk Icon of the Mother of God.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen, Administrator of the Affairs of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, led the service of the Divine Liturgy in the St. Sophia Cathedral of the Iveron-Seraphim Convent in Almaty.
Concelebrating with His Eminence were: Archpriest Alexander Sokolov, Hieromonk Arseny (Voloshin); Head of the administrative secretariat of the Head of the Metropolitan District, Priest Georgy Sidorov, cleric of the St. Nicholas Cathedral of the southern capital, Hierodeacon Afanasy (Kozel), Deacon Andrei Plakhuta.
Praying at the Liturgy were: the abbess of the Iversko-Seraphim convent, Abbess Lyubov (Yakushkina) with the nuns of the monastery, employees of the Alma-Ata diocesan administration, pilgrims and parishioners of the temple.
The choir of St. Sophia Cathedral sang under the direction of O. Usoltseva.
At the special litany, special prayers were offered for the health and prosperity of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, who was celebrating the 14th anniversary of his appointment to the Kazakh pulpit.
At the end of the service, Bishop Gennady addressed the believers with a word of archpastoral teaching.
