On February 7, 2024, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, a meeting of students of the pastoral and regency departments with the res colonel of the armed forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan V.V. Pomortsev took place at the Alma-Ata Orthodox Theological Seminary.
The event is timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

Having received a gunshot wound in April 1981, the seminary guest underwent treatment for two years in hospitals in Kabul, Tashkent and Alma-Ata.
After recovery, he served at the military department of the Kazakh State University C.M. Kirov (now Al-Farabi Kazakh National University) as a teacher, head of the academic department and head of the department.
